Requirements for Short Term Work Visa

- Certified Copies of all Qualifications and Training Certificates
- Letter of Employment – from the business in South Africa (template will be provided upon instruction)
- Letter of Motivation – from the business in Namibia (template will be provided upon instruction)

In order to facilitate the travel and work in Namibia, I would advise that we proceed to apply for Namibian Temporary Visas.
Namibian Temporary Work visas are always issued for an initial 3 months and can be extended for an additional 3 months. The initial work visa application will be submitted at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Windhoek whilst the applicant is out of Namibia. The renewal application can be lodged 3 weeks prior to the expiration of the initial visa.
The processing time to obtain the Temporary Work Visa is 10 -15 working Days.
It is important that the applicant has a higher qualification than a Matric certificate/High School Diploma, a relevant certificate of achievement or an in-house training/competency certificate and work experience in line with their occupation as the Ministry of Home Affairs in Windhoek insists on this.
Once the visa has been approved, a letter (called annexure J) will be scanned and emailed to the applicant confirming approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs in Windhoek. Upon entry (to Namibia), the applicant will be required to show proof of the short-term work visa approval to the border control official (Annexure J is shown to the Immigration Officer), who will then duly endorse the same into the applicant’s passport.
Important Note
- No visas are required for SA passport holders travelling as tourists.
- SA passport holders attending a Meeting or Conference, need to present a letter of invite only.
- Work visa to apply, and issued from Windhoek
- Business visas will be issued on arrival for South African Passport holders
