Requirements
- Original Passport (valid for at least six months prior to its expiration date).
- The passport must have at least 2 (two) blank visa pages.

- Round-trip ticket,
- Booked itinerary (reservation) or letter from a travel agent under the applicant’s name, with a complete itinerary, flight number and arrival/departure dates and reservation code provided by the airline company.
- Confirmation of hotel reservation (name, address & telephone number) or name and address of intended accommodation
- Notarized letter from employer or sponsoring company, clearly stating the precise nature of business, dates or arrival and departure, and financial responsibility for the costs of the trip (the letter must be on an official company letterhead, signed by a senior manager, introducing the applicant and specifying his/her job/position in the company).
- Invitation letter to the conference or seminar etc., in Brazil.
- Proof of residence in the form of a valid temporary or permanent residence visa (or equivalent document issued by the Dept. of Home Affairs), issued by a country of the Embassy’s jurisdiction.
- Holders of VITEM-II visas intending to stay in Brazil for longer than 90 days must request at the Federal Police Department in Brazil an extension within the first 30 days of their entry into the country.
- Applicants intending to take part in the production/filming of documentary, commercial or advertisement videos or motion pictures must submit an authorization from ANCINE – Agência (Ministério da Cultura – Secretaria para o Desenvolvimento Audiovisual), which is to be obtained by the interested party/representative in Brazil prior to the issuance of the visa.
Additional visa requirements for applicants under 18 years old:
- Both parents must sign the receipt page (Visa Request Form Receipt – RER) in the appropriate signature box;
- Letter of consent from both parents. Please note that the authorization is requested from both parents in any situation (even when the minor is traveling accompanied by both or only by one of the parents).
- If the application is not lodged by the parents in person, the absent parent (s) must sign the form before a Notary Public, and present notarized copies of parent’s ID and unabridged birth certificate of the minor. The letter must also indicate the person responsible for the applicant.
Important Note
- Visas are not required by South African passport holders
- Visa applications will be rejected if application forms are not fully completed & signed & are not accompanied by the required documents.
- There is no guarantee that a visa will be issued.
- For organized groups, arrangements should be made well in advance with the relevant issuing authority.
- SA passport holders no longer require visas to enter Brazil as tourists or on a business of a private or official nature for a maximum period of 90 days.
- Persons entering Brazil as per paragraph above are not permitted to undertake any remunerated activities.
- The exemption of visas does not excuse SA nationals of complying with the laws and regulations existing in the Federative Republic of Brazil with regards to entry, residence (temporary), work (remunerated or not) and exit. This exemption also does not affect the right of the Brazilian authorities to refuse admission or residence to persons which do not comply with the requirements for entry
